The treatment for ptosis (or drooping eyelid) consists of surgically removing excess skin tissue to allow the shorter eyelid to rise more fully. The surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia. Non-dissolvable stitches are used and left until healing is complete. Antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory ointment are normally prescribed to foster healing.
