PRESIDENT - OCULOPLASTIC SURGERY
Dr. Boileau’s personal and professional achievements provide a patent illustration of the values that guide him, namely, hard work, courage and determination. Already during adolescence, he was a Canadian champion middle-distance runner and set numerous provincial records in his discipline. After obtaining a degree in biology, he completed his medical degree in 1991 and his subspecialty training in ophthalmology in 1996 along with complementary training at McGill University in oculoplastics and tear ducts.
His love of nature led him to settle in Estérel, join the Laurentians regional ophthalmology team and inaugurate the ophthalmology services unit at the Centre de santé et des services sociaux (CSSS) des Sommets in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. In 1998, he took part in founding the IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic in Laval specialized in laser refractive surgery and cataract surgery, which has since become a reference point in the field in Quebec. His career has been punctuated by numerous scientific presentations, congresses and publications and he has been supervising the practical training of optometry students since 2002.
His passion for mountain climbing has taken him around the world and on May 19, 2004, to the top of Mt. Everest.
In 2009, together with the other members of the regional ophthalmology team, he founded the Eye Institute of the Laurentians in the aim of improving access to leading-edge ophthalmological care for the region’s residents. He then became its president. At 46 years of age and a father of two, he continues to dream of improving the vision care dispensed by our healthcare system and to thus make the world a better place for generations to come.
