Dr. Kevin Messier, optometrist (O.D.), obtained his doctorate in optometry from the Université de Montréal in 2008. After two years of private practice, he returned to school in order to further his training to obtain the very first eye health residency certificate from the École d’optométrie in 2010. He is presently completing a Master’s degree in vision science at the Université de Montréal.
Aside from his work at the Institut de l'Oeil des Laurentides (IOL), Dr. Messier, optometrist, has taken part in the training of future optometrists at the Clinique universitaire de la vision de l’Université de Montréal as a clinical lecturer since 2009 and he has participated also in the activities of the Centre de perfectionnement et de référence en optométrie by lecturing optometrists. He regularly gives lectures also to different health professionals, including for Alcon and Pfizer. Since 2011, he taught in France ophthalmic emergency management to French opticians, an experience that he hopes to repeat in the near future.
In addition to his participation in developing optometry clinics for the EIL, Dr. Messier, optometrist, contributes in particular to the glaucoma, retina and cataract evaluation clinics. He also provides support with calculating the power of specialty intraocular lenses and lends his collaboration to the different research projects in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
